General Questions
Heart Club began as my personal passion project. I simply loved high-quality dakimakura and collecting art of the characters I adored. Eventually, that hobby grew into something bigger. I realized I wanted to share these custom designs with other fans who care about quality just as much as I do.
Today, Heart Club is a curated collection of exclusive anime body pillow covers. Every single design in the store is commissioned directly from real human artists. We don't use AI and we don't cut corners. This is a place where you can support the creative community and find unique artwork that truly celebrates the characters you love.
I hope you find a cover that speaks to you. Thanks for helping bring these characters to life!
A dakimakura is a Japanese "hugging pillow" (daki means to embrace, makura means pillow). While the pillow itself provides orthopedic support for side sleepers, the cover is what brings it to life.
A dakimakura cover is a high-quality fabric case specifically designed to fit these long body pillows. They almost always feature life-sized artwork of characters from anime, games, or original creators. Think of it as a poster you can actually hold. It serves a double purpose: it provides physical comfort for a better night's sleep and lets you keep your favorite character close by!

Heart Club is an independent doujin store. While our products celebrate popular characters from anime and games, they are not official licensed merchandise.
Instead, we operate just like an artist alley at a convention. We commission talented independent artists to create unique, original illustrations strictly for our brand. When you shop with us, you are purchasing high-resolution doujin goods and directly supporting the human illustrators who drew them. We focus on creating the kind of premium, fan-made designs that official studios rarely release.
We love hearing what the community wants next! Since we commission real human artists for every new releases, the process takes time. However, we hold regular polls on Discord to decide which characters to bring to life next.
Make sure to also fill out the post-purchase poll with your suggestions for future characters after you place an order!
Product Specs and Sizing
We exclusively use 2-Way Tricot. In the world of anime body pillows, this is the gold standard. Unlike cheaper "Peach Skin" fabrics which feel like a windbreaker, 2-Way Tricot is knit to be smooth to the touch, magnificently soft, and incredibly elastic. It allows the printed image to stretch without distorting and feels similar to smooth skin.
We currently offer two grades of fabric:
- Standard 2-Way: The industry standard for softness and print clarity.
- Maple Syrup: Our upgraded blend with increased print quality and smoothness.
No, our store sells the dakimakura cover (pillowcase) only. The inner pillow core must be purchased separately. This allows us to ship worldwide for free, as shipping a full-sized body pillow is very expensive due to the size and weight.
We design our covers to the international "Gold Standard" size of 160cm x 50cm (approx. 63in x 20in).
For the best aesthetic and widest volume, we recommend buying a 160x50cm inner pillow.
For legacy-style 150cm pillows, our covers will fit standard 150x50cm pillows, but there will be roughly 10cm of loose fabric at the bottom. Alternatively, contact us and we may be able to crop the art to 150cm for you.
To get the most out of our 2-Way Tricot fabric, you want a high-quality insert. We recommend checking the Daki Guide for the latest info on widely-available inners.
It depends on the collection. Our standard catalog is generally available permanently. However, we occasionally do "Limited Editions" for special fabrics or variants. Once the pre-order window for a limited run closes, we cannot guarantee that design will ever be reprinted.
This is the ultimate tier for serious collectors. When a cover is marked "Limited Edition," it generally means one of the fabrics options is Printed within Japan using the world's most famous proprietary fabrics.
We collaborate with legendary Japanese printers to offer fabrics such as AquaVeil (by Fules) or Sakuramochi (by Shiromoufu).
Because coordinating with Japanese printers is logistically complex, these covers are produced in a single batch. Pre-ordering is essential. If you miss the pre-order window, we usually cannot secure extra stock from the manufacturer.
Orders and Shipping
Yes. We understand that privacy is a priority. All orders are shipped in plain, unbranded poly mailers or cardboard boxes. The shipping label will only display your address and a generic sender name. There is no mention of "anime," "dakimakura," or specific character names on the outside of the package.
We ship worldwide!
Since our dakimakura covers are made to order in small batches, production typically takes 1-2 weeks. Once your order is ready, we’ll ship it out right away. Shipping times vary by destination, with most orders arriving within 1-3 weeks after shipping.
Customs and Taxes
For many regions, yes! We use special "tax-inclusive" shipping lines. This means we handle the paperwork and fees on our end so the package sails through customs without you having to pay extra upon delivery.
Here is where we currently offer tax-inclusive shipping:
- USA & EU: Covered for all fabric types.
- Australia & Japan: Covered for orders using Maple Syrup (Upgraded) fabric.
- China (Mainland): Covered for Standard and Maple Syrup fabrics.
If your country isn't listed here, you may be responsible for local import duties. We are always working to expand this list, so if you receive a package fee-free in a different region, let us know!
To keep delivery smooth, we collect these taxes upfront at checkout specifically for the regions listed above. By paying this now, we can prepay the customs duties for you. This ensures your package doesn't get stuck at the border and you won't be hit with surprise "ransom" fees from the post office to get your pillow.
For orders to the US, EU, and the other collected regions listed above, no. Since we prepay the duties, the package travels like a domestic shipment once it clears the border. You just sit back and wait for the delivery.
Because we use official tax-inclusive shipping lines to guarantee smooth delivery, customs values must be declared correctly. Manipulating the value actually makes the package more likely to be inspected or seized. Trust us, the current method is the safest and fastest way to get your items.
If you live in a country with strict import laws or need specific handling that isn't mentioned here, please contact us before you order. We will check with our logistics partners to see if we can accommodate your needs.
Care and Maintenance
Treat your cover like handling expensive lingerie. For the best results, we recommend hand washing.
- Turn the cover inside out. This protects the printed image from friction.
- Fill a basin with cold water. Hot water can damage the elastic fibers.
- Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent.
- Gently agitate the water with your hands. Do not scrub hard or wring it out aggressively.
- Rinse with cold water until all soap is gone.
Yes, but you need to be careful. If you must use a machine:
- Turn the cover inside out.
- Place it inside a mesh laundry bag (delicates bag). This is non-negotiable! It prevents the fabric from getting stretched by the machine.
- Run a Delicate/Gentle cycle with Cold Water.
- Never use bleach or fabric softener. Bleach destroys the print, and softener clogs the breathable fibers.
Never put your cover in the dryer. The heat will destroy the elastic weave and warp the image.
Instead, hang it up to air dry in a shaded area (indoor shower rods work great). Avoid direct sunlight, as UV rays can fade the ink over time.
2-Way Tricot is famous for being soft, but that softness means it is sensitive to friction. "Pilling" happens when tiny fibers break and tangle into small fuzz balls.
To keep your cover smooth:
- Watch the stubble: Facial hair and body stubble are the enemy of tricot. They act like sandpaper against the fabric. Shaving before bed helps!
- Trim your nails: Sharp fingernails or toenails can snag not just the thread, but the image itself.
- Check your pajamas: Avoid sleeping in clothes with zippers, velcro, or rough prints while hugging the pillow.

Artwork and Artists
Heart Club is strictly 100% human-made. We do not use AI generation for any of our dakimakura designs. Instead, we commission skilled freelance illustrators from the anime and doujin community to create original works specifically for our store. When you buy from us, you are getting a piece of human artistry, not an algorithmic output.
We believe in full credit. Unless the artist requests otherwise, you will find the artist’s name and links to their social media handles (Twitter/X, Pixiv, etc.) clearly listed at the top of every product description. We encourage you to follow them and support their personal work too!
We treat our artists as professional partners. We offer competitive commercial licensing rates that reflect the skill and time required to create high-resolution dakimakura art. By purchasing a cover from Heart Club, you are directly funding our ability to commission more human artists and keep the creative ecosystem thriving.
Always. We are constantly looking for new styles to expand our catalog. If you have experience with high-resolution anime illustration and want to work with us, please send your portfolio and commission rates to artists@heartclub.art.
Note: Due to the volume of submissions, we may only be able to reply to applicants who are a potential fit for upcoming projects.
